COURSE CHANGES

Class schedules are developed in accordance with a Career and College Readiness (CCR) plan and student course requests. Changing classes required for graduation should be made in consultation with a counselor. There is a $10.00 fee for a class change. Students will not be charged the fee if there is a hole in their schedule, a repeated class, or the change is requested by a teacher. Please see the counseling center schedule for specific dates to change schedules.

General Schedule Changes:

  • General Schedule change sessions are held at the beginning of each semester; one day before the semester starts, and the first two days of classes.
  • Students may change schedules without teacher approval.

After those change sessions, all requests for a schedule change are required to go through an appeal process.

Appealed Schedule Changes:

  • Must be completed within the first two weeks of each term.
  • Must be preceded by a teacher, parent, student meeting.
  • Appeal forms must be completely filled out and submitted to counselor within the two-week schedule change time period.

After the time periods stated above there will be no schedule changes made or classes dropped.

General Information

Do you need to change your schedule? Here are some important things to know before you make a change:

  1. There are two times during the school year you can make a change without any signatures from teachers or parents. This is during the General Schedule Change period which happens near the beginning of each semester.
  2. After the General Schedule Change period, students have to go through the Appealed Schedule Change process.  The Appealed Schedule Change process requires several signatures and a meeting between a parent and the teacher.  The Appealed Schedule Change period happens after the General Schedule and ends two weeks after the beginning of the term.
  3. NO APPEALED SCHEDULE CHANGE FORMS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER TWO WEEKS INTO THE TERM.

Class Change Dates

Students will sign up for an appointment time on myDSD and pay $10 change fee. This fee will be reimbursed if the student is fixing a mistake on their schedule.

Schedules will be changed in the career center on the following appointments dates:

  • Friday, January 11, 7:30 - 11:00
  • Tuesday, January 15, 12:30 - 2:30
  • Wednesday, January 16, 2:30 - 4:00

On January 14 (the first day of the new semester), students may come down every hour if their teacher sends them or they have a "problem" with their schedule.  Counselors will not meet with students wishing to make changes but will require them to make an appointment on one of the dates listed above.

After January 16, any class changes must go through an appeals process. This is done by completing an Appeal Form and submitting it to your assigned counselor.  NO APPEALS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER JANUARY 28.

The next appeal period is at the beginning of term four, March 19-29.
