Online connections are still real connections. This week for digital citizenship, we’re focusing on how kids build safe, healthy relationships online. These conversation starters are designed to help families talk together about online interactions, boundaries, and staying connected — online and offline. A simple question can open the door.

Green title graphic reading “5 Conversation Starters for Safe Online Connections.” Subheading reads “Digital Citizenship: Relationships & Communication — We Value Human Connection.” Includes a bobcat mascot and Bountiful Elementary branding.
Green graphic with the heading “Connection Comes First.” Text explains that online connections are real connections and that talking with kids about how online interactions feel helps build empathy and awareness. Includes a conversation starter asking how kids know when an online interaction feels positive or uncomfortable. Bountiful Elementary logo at the bottom.
Green graphic with the heading “Kindness Counts Online.” Text explains that words and actions matter online, and tone, comments, and reactions can impact others just as much as in person. Includes a conversation starter asking how someone would want others to talk to them online. Bountiful Elementary logo at the bottom.
Green graphic with the heading “Not Everyone Online Is a Friend.” Text explains that trust grows slowly online and offline, and that kids may interact with people they don’t know well through games, apps, or chats. Includes a conversation starter asking what makes someone a safe person to talk to online. Bountiful Elementary logo at the bottom.
Green graphic with the heading “Pausing Is a Skill.” Text explains that it’s okay to stop, think, or step away, and that pausing before replying or sharing helps kids stay in control of their choices, especially during emotional moments. Includes a conversation starter asking what kids could do if a message makes them feel unsure or pressured. Bountiful Elementary logo at the bottom.
Green graphic with the heading “Adults Are Part of the Conversation.” Text explains that kids should know they can ask for help, and that trusted adults support safety and confidence online. Includes a conversation starter asking who kids would talk to if something online didn’t feel right. Bountiful Elementary logo at the bottom.
Each week, our school focuses on a Manner of the Week — a modern manner that all students learn about and practice together.
This week’s focus is Responding to Compliments.
Students are learning that when someone shares kind words, it’s okay to keep the response simple. A genuine “thank you” helps acknowledge kindness and supports positive communication.
These weekly manners are designed to be informative and to encourage thoughtful conversations at home. Talking about how it feels to receive compliments — and how to respond to them — can help build confidence and respectful interactions.

Graphic titled “Manner of the Week” with the focus “Respond to Compliments.” The design features yellow and cream vertical stripes with green text and accents. A short description explains that when someone says something kind, a simple “thank you” is enough. A school mascot illustration appears in the bottom corner.
Last week week we had our Royal Banquet for kindergarten! It was so fun to see them all dressed up as Kings and Queens.

🧠👣 Every click leaves a footprint. Last week, we talked about privacy and security — how to protect personal information online. This week, we’re building on that idea by looking at something just as important: digital footprints and identity. From photos and comments to games and apps, kids start forming a digital footprint earlier than many of us realize. Over time, those small choices add up — shaping how others see them and how they see themselves. That’s why we’re encouraging families to talk about: • pausing before sharing • modeling thoughtful online behavior • understanding that apps collect information • remembering that kindness and respect matter online, too Digital identity doesn’t happen by accident — it grows through everyday choices. 💚 Swipe through for conversation starters you can use at home. #DigitalCitizenship #DigitalFootprint #OnlineSafety #FamilyConversations #WeDefineWhoWeAre

Green background with the text “5 Insights on Kids’ Digital Footprints & Identities.” The header reads “Digital Citizenship: Digital Footprint & Identity – We Define Who We Are.” A large number 6 appears on the left, and a Bobcat mascot with the words “Go Bobcats!” appears on the right.
Green slide with the heading “We Define Who We Are.” Supporting text explains that every photo, post, comment, and click contributes to a digital footprint and that the week focuses on helping kids understand how online choices reflect who they are and who they want to be.
Green slide with the heading “Digital Footprints.” The text explains that digital footprints begin earlier than many people think, starting with shared photos, games, and apps, and that talking about this helps kids understand online actions leave traces over time.
Green slide with the heading “Modeling Matters.” The text explains that kids learn digital habits by watching adults and that how adults share photos, stories, and information sends strong messages. It notes that involving kids in sharing decisions helps them feel ownership of their digital identity.
Green slide with the heading “Pause Before Sharing.” The text explains that not everything needs to be posted and that encouraging kids to pause and think builds awareness around online choices. Example questions include how a post represents them and whether they would be comfortable if others saw it.
Green slide with the heading “Every App Leaves a Trail.” The text explains that digital footprints include more than posts, noting that accounts, games, and apps can collect and share information behind the scenes. It emphasizes reviewing permissions and privacy settings together to build awareness.
Green slide with the heading “Identity Is Built Over Time.” The text explains that who we are online should reflect who we are offline and that positive digital identity grows through kindness, honesty, and respect. It highlights supporting kids as they build an online presence they can be proud of.
It’s competition day! 🤖💚 This morning, three of our Bobcat Robotics teams are heading into their first VEXIQ competition of the season — and we couldn’t be prouder of the work they’ve put in to get here. Weeks of building, testing, fixing, rebuilding, teamwork, and problem-solving all lead to today. No matter how the matches go, these students are already winning by showing perseverance, creativity, and courage.
